About Me
Hi there! My name is Sim Yin Tan (she/her). I am a Licensed Psychologist who is passionate about empowering children, adolescents, young adults, and families toward the goal of mental and behavioral health wellness. Over the past 10 years, I have provided services to individuals and families with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs in a variety of settings including in-homes, public schools, outpatient clinics, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, residential facility, and juvenile detention center.
My treatment modalities include evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy with exposure response prevention (CBT/ERP), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), habit reversal therapy (HRT), positive behavior supports (PBS), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT).
I have specific interests in:
a) Adaptations and modifications of evidence-based treatment to address the unique needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.)
b) Perinatal mental health (e.g., infertility, pregnancy, loss, grief, and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders)
Originally from Malaysia, I currently reside in the Tampa Bay Area with my husband and toddler son. During my free time, I enjoy traveling, working on art projects, exploring local hole-in-the-wall restaurants, experimenting new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.
